New and Upcoming Cars You Should Know About

Whether it’s new standard tech and safety features, exciting concept vehicles or more green-minded vehicles, the automotive industry is constantly announcing something new. From all-electric vehicles to race-ready rides, here are some of the most exciting new and upcoming cars.

Acura Type S Concept

Acura is known for producing stunning luxury vehicles that feature the reliability of its parent company, Honda. But the people also know a thing or two about producing a formidable performance car, like the NSX and Integra Type R. One of the performance-minded things Acura has done in the past was to make a Type S variant for some of their models, an upper-level trim option that featured more power, better handling and head-turning style.

In a press release from August 2019, Acura announced the return of its Type S variant, something that had been missing from their models for 10 years. The new Type S Concept is nothing short of incredible, from its custom Double Apex Blue Pearl paint job to its Eye® LED headlights to its carbon spoiler and 21-inch wheels. While not in production, the Type S Concept is a look at Acura’s return to performance.

Honda Civic Type R

Although not technically new, the Civic Type R’s introduction to the U.S market in 2017 created quite a stir, especially among the tuner community. For years, it was available only overseas, leaving American drivers void of Honda’s top-level Civic. The Honda Civic Type R is anything but another economy car. Aggressive exterior styling, a huge wing and a roaring 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission make the Civic Type R a worthy addition to this list.

Lexus LC Convertible Concept

The Lexus LC Coupe is nothing short of amazing, displaying Lexus’ prowess when it comes to blending style and performance. It’s no surprise that the Lexus LC Convertible Concept is no exception. While not in production (or at least not yet), the LC Convertible should be at the top of everyone’s shopping list if it does hit showrooms. Expect similar styling and handling to what’s found in the Coupe version.

Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Concept

With its plans to eventually go completely electric, the I.D. BUZZ is an exciting look at Volkswagen’s future plans, and is just one of several I.D. vehicles that brand is planning to release in coming years. With style inspiration from one of its most well-known vehicles, the Microbus, the I.D. BUZZ is expected to hit dealerships in 2022. It will feature a fully-electric powertrain, reconfigurable seating options and controls that look like something only seen in science fiction films. In addition, the I.D. Buzz will be powered by a 369-horsepower electric motor.
